SkillShops

SkillShops are 50-minute co-curricular workshops facilitated by staff, faculty, and students across campus. SkillShops:

• introduce or further develop skills through exploration and/or application
• exist in two formats -- Live in-person sessions and Canvas at-your-pace tutorials
• focuses on active and hands-on learning (25+ minutes each session)
• Encourage discovery, exploration & social connection

Since the SkillShops program started in 2014, people have participated in our in-person and online workshops over 19,000 times!

While many students attend more than one SkillShop, each year 1 in 4 Cal Poly Humboldt students complete one or more SkillShop (most recent five-year average)!

Learn new skills online in a way that works best for you!

Canvas online SkillShops allow you to work at your own pace. There are many different Canvas SkillShops on a variety of topics. Each Canvas SkillShop takes 1-1.5 hours if you tackle all at once, or else you can break that up and finish it over a weekend or even longer.
