SkillShop Proposal Help

Create a flyer to help promote your SkillShop!
- SkillShops Flyer Template (Google Slides) – this can be used to create simple 8 1/2 x 11 flyers
- Multi-event Flyer Template (Google Slides)
- Accessibility note: while it is always best to create flyers and other visual media so that it has associated explanatory text for people with visual impairments, we post accessible versions of full SkillShop details in each 25Live event and in the registration email communications. These flyer templates are intended to be printed and not distributed electronically.

Training & Lesson Planning Materials

Students Facilitating SkillShops Schedule (Google Doc) – a list of action steps that peer facilitators must take in order to offer a SkillShop. Some items should be completed in order, but not all.
SkillShops Facilitator Reflection (Google Form) – at the end of each semester, we ask facilitators to complete this form so we can gather feedback about their experience
SkillShops Observation and Reflection Template (Google Doc) – before facilitating their own workshop, student facilitators must observe another SkillShop and reflect on their experience
ARCS motivation model (Keller) training materials
- SkillShops Facilitator 101 ARCS Training Presentation (Google Slides) – Google Slides presentation used during the 1.5-2 hr training
- SkillShops Facilitator 101 ARCS Handouts (PDF) – lesson planning tools for incorporating the ARCS model, with examples

TILT framework training materials

- Lesson Plan using TILT (Fillable Google Doc) -- worksheet for creating a lesson plan
Sample SkillShop Lesson Outline – Zotero (Google Doc) – this basic outline format is a simple way to have facilitators begin the lesson planning process
Follow-up Feedback Form – customizable feedback form to send out to participants after your SkillShop (Google Forms)

ACRL Press book chapter

Tim Miller (Digital Media and Learning Librarian) and Sarah Fay Philips (former Coordinator of Instruction and Reference, currently Librarian, OSU Cascades) published a book chapter about the SkillShops program and collaborating across campus to create co-curricular learning opportunities for students, entitled “Designing a Collaborative Cross-Campus Drop-in Workshop Series to Motivate Lifelong Learners,” published by ACRL Press.
