This guide is designed to help you with your next audio project. There are many resources to help you both within the Library and online. This guide has several pages for the different parts of creating a podcast or other audio project. Use the navigation menu (to the left or top on mobile devices) to find some pointers on getting started on your project.
The Makerspace also has equipment and software that you can use for your project. You can also set up one-on-one appointments with us or attend a SkillShop to learn more about recording and editing audio.
If you have a project that involves recording or creating your own music, you may also want to check out the Creating Music guide.
We have equipment to borrow, including cameras, microphones, 360 video cameras, virtual reality viewers, and many accessories. All of the Take & Make equipment is available to borrow at the Checkout Desk on the first floor of the Library. Items can be borrowed for 72 hours and all equipment is free to use.
We also have computers with production and editing software available to all students, all day. The Makerspace Lab computers are located in room 122 on the first floor of the Library in the south east corner.
The Studio (Library 120) is a space where you can shoot and edit video and audio and take photographs, including:
The room includes a variety of lighting options, backdrops, usb microphones, and a computer station (Windows).
The Studio is open for use anytime and can be reserved for the same week using the sign-up sheet outside the door. If the room is not booked, it is open to drop in use, just write it in on the sign-in sheet!
The Makerspace also offers instruction on learning about the equipment and software needed to create your projects. Through regular face-to-face and asynchronous at-your-own-pace SkillShops and special events, the Makerspace is the place on campus to learn about digital media. Interested in creating digital projects? Not sure where to start? Looking for some inspiration? We can help you get new ideas, get your hands on great equipment and software and learn about new tools. Contact us to learn more or to set up a one-on-one tutoring session.
