What is the "Find It @ Humboldt Library Extension"?
Find It @ Humboldt finds ISBNs and DOIs for books and articles on websites, making it easy to check Cal Poly Humboldt Library for full-text access or request them through interlibrary loan.
What sites does it work on?
The extension is designed to work on any website that contains an ISBN or DOI. This includes publisher sites, academic databases, and bookseller platforms. If a valid identifier is present on the page, the extension should detect it and provide a library lookup link.
I clicked a link and it sent me to the library catalog. It just says to sign in and doesn't tell me if the library has a copy.
If the catalog prompts you to sign in but doesn't show availability, it may mean we don't currently have a physical or online copy of that item. However, current students, faculty, and staff can request a copy for free through interlibrary loan.
For more information about interlibrary loan and how to place a request, visit our Resource Sharing page.
Where can I get the extension?
The extension is currently being developed for Chrome and Firefox. Check back for developments.
Does the extension collect any personal data or track my browsing activity?
This extension runs locally in your browser and does not collect or transmit any personal data. It only scans page content for standard book and article identifiers, like ISBNs and DOIs.
