Hall of Simulation

This is a guide to the Hall of Simulation at the Cal Poly Humboldt Library. It is broken up into five spaces that contain information on the operation and context of each piece of equipment in the Hall of Simulation. Visit the Hall of Simulation homepage to learn about current updates to the Hall and for current docent hours.

Objectives

Emergent technologies expand the capabilities of learners to access new information and learning experiences. The technology housed within the Hall of Simulation has been selected to provide learners with new ways to study, gain experience, and develop relevant skills. Within this guide, you will learn about:

• How to identify the different pieces of equipment present in the Hall of Simulation.
• The correct handling and usage of equipment as directed in the instruction manuals.

This guide is a companion to the online tutorial through the SkillShops program. The online SkillShop version (link below) includes most of the same content but can be completed by Cal Poly Humboldt students, staff, and faculty. The SkillShop should take approximately 30-50 minutes to complete. You can log out and/or take breaks at any time. Your work will be saved as you progress. 

In order to achieve the SkillShops badge at the end of the session, you will need to go through the entire course. You can proceed however you like, so long as all five of the following modules are complete. There is a short quiz at the end of each module to test your knowledge, you have unlimited attempts on these. At the end of the course there will be one final summative quiz, you will need to score an 80% or more to earn your badge. Once you have finished the SkillShop, you will receive a completion badge.

The Hall of Simulation is an interactive space on the 2nd floor of the Library, offering a variety of hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and inspire learning. From soaring through the skies in an FAA-certified flight simulator, battling digital fires on the Simtable, to exploring the digital dissection table's collection, there is a unique and engaging experience for everyone. The Hall of Simulation is the perfect place to explore the adventures of learning environments that use simulation technologies. The Hall of Simulation is the Library’s dedicated space for learning technologies. In the past few years, staff have been working hard to put together this space for all Library visitors to expand their learning opportunities.
