Nursing Research Guide

Subject Headings are a great way to find books on your topic in OneSearch. 

1. First, do a simple keyword search on your topic and limit to Resource Type > Books. 

2. Second, click on the book's title and scroll down to Subjects. 

3. Click on any of the subjects to be taken to other books assigned that same subject heading. 

The Cal Poly Humboldt Library uses the Library of Congress Classification System to organize books alphabetically by subject area.* The alphabetical section for Medicine is "R" and the subclasses are shown below. You can use these to browse the physical books in our collection. 

*Keep in mind that many of the library's more current books are in ebook format, which you can find by using OneSearch.
