About Professional Associations

Exploring professional associations in education can be a great way to become familiar with the profession or the specific area of education that you would like to focus on. Becoming a member of a professional organization can be a great way to network, connect with professional development opportunities, and stay current in your field.

Explore the list on the left or search Google to find a professional association that interests you.

Example Google searches:

  • mathematics "middle school" association
  • "social studies" "middle school" association
  • art elementary association

Publications from Professional Associations

Another benefit to becoming a member of a professional association is being able to access any journals and magazine that they publish. Explore the association's website for publications. If they aren't open access (freely available), copy/paste the title of the magazine or journal into OneSearch to see if the library provides access  - or get individual articles through interlibrary loan.
