Preparing for a sociology conference poster presentation

Searching for a conference

Sociology conferences occur through the year. Many of the resources in this research guide focus on domestic (United States) sociology conferences, but international sociology conferences exist as well. Consult your faculty for additional conference resources in addition to what you find here.

Submitting Your Proposal

Conferences will provide instructions on their website regarding presentation proposals. Keep the following in mind as you work on completing your proposal:

  • Conferences will typically list the period for when proposals for conference presentations are accepted. Note when the period begins and closes. Do NOT miss the submission deadline.
  • Seek out information on how you submit your proposal to your conference. You may have to submit your proposal through an online portal, by email, or another method.
  • Adhere to the listed deadline. Assume that no late submissions are accepted.
  • Conferences will sometimes offer travel scholarships for students to attend. Browse the website of your conference to see if travel scholarships are available. If they are, note the requirements and application deadline.
