Printing PPE

There are many different plans for 3D printed masks and face shields. Groups at HSU have been working to produce some of these using campus-owned 3D printers as personal printers. Below are some links to projects and resources. Currently, HSU is printing the design developed by UCSF, which is based on the Prusa design, but uses less material and prints more quickly.

UCSF Face Shield Project
The face shield project is one of many PPE-related projects being worked on by the UCSF ORIF (Organized, Rapid, Intelligent Fabrication) team in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the Prusa design.
Prusa Face Shield
The Prusa face shield is one of the more promising 3D-printed face shield designs and has been approved by the Czech Health Ministry. Other organizations, including NIH and the University of Michigan have approved designs based on the Prusa model.
U-M Face Shield
Based on the Prusa design, UM made some small changes and is coordinating efforts to gather and disseminate face shields to medical professionals.
Georgia Tech Rapid Response
Focusing on designs which are easy to manufacture and easy to assemble, they have settled on two main options: one is a 2D rigid reusable shield and another called origami-style disposable shield.
COVID-19 Response: 3D Printing PPE Equipment
Doug Daniels at UCLA has organized a list of resources related to the "current activities related to the manufacture of PPE equipment for medical facilities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is meant to help you navigate some of the more promising designs that we've encountered. "
NIH 3D Print Exchange
