Open Access Transformative Agreements

The California State University system has entered into transformative agreements with numerous journal publishers to allow for the free publication of journal articles in open-access.

Open-Access Transformative Agreements

Transformative agreements are contracts between publishers and institutions to support free or discounted open-access journal article publishing. California State University (CSU) currently has signed transformative agreements with the American Chemical Society (ACS), Elsevier, and Oxford University Press (OUP). This allows submissions to these publishers' collection of journals to be published in open access for free, instead of incurring article processing charges (APCs).

For information about each of the agreements, how to navigate the process, and which journals are included in the agreement, see the below links:

OUP Agreement / Authors Guide

To participate, the corresponding author must be employed by the CSU and must follow the particular publisher's submission directions. The university library associated with the corresponding author's campus affiliation will be notified upon submission, will mediate the approval process, and will trigger an author notification when the request has been approved.
