Downloads allows you to access and work with content offline.  You will need to sign in to your personal Ebook Central (ebrary) account to access this option.

There are several options available in terms of downloading Ebook Central (ebrary) content:

  • In image PDF format, a chapter or page range up to 60 pages
  • Full title downloads using Adobe Digital Editions (ADE), free software available from adobe.com (requires signing into ebrary bookshelf account and ADE account)

Almost all HSU titles on Ebook Central allow unlimited simultaneous users, unlimited full-book downloads using Adobe Digital Editions, and DRM-free chapter chapter downloads, with print and copy limits set at 40% and 20% respectively. Limits to the number of DRM-free chapter downloads allowed is currently set at 40% of the title's volume, per title, per day. 

Adobe Digital Editions

In order to download full titles to your laptop, computer or handheld device, you will need to create a free Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) account by simply going to adobe.com and providing a username and password of your choice.

With ADE, you may download up to 10 titles at a time and have off-line access to your downloaded titles for up to 14 days. You may return a full title download early and within your ADE account you may also do the following:

  • Take notes
  • Show facing pages
  • Print
  • Transfer titles to handheld devices

BlueFire Reader App

You can download an entire ebrary document directly from an iPad, but you’ll need to have done the first two steps before downloading from within ebrary.

First, create an Adobe ID:

  1. Go to https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/membership
  2. Click “Create an account
  3. Fill in at least the starred fields…
  4. Click “OK

Second, install the BlueFire Reader app

  1. Go to the App Store on your iPad
  2. Search for “BlueFire Reader
  3. Download it to your iPad
  4. Authorize your BlueFire account

Third, download the ebook from within ebrary

  1. Go to your usual ebrary site
  2. Sign in to your ebrary bookshelf account
  3. Search for the document you want to download
  4. Click on its cover or title to open it in QuickView
  5. Click on the green “Download” button
  6. Select the option to download the entire book
  7. Follow the prompts, including signing in to your Adobe ID
