Brain Booth in the HSU Library

The Library Brain Booth is an informal, experiential space to learn about the mind body connection, reduce stress and optimize learning.

Tools & Activities Available

The Library Brain Booth is setup as hands-on stations for you to explore the tools and activities at your own pace. The Brain Booth Student Assistants are available during drop in hours to provide guidance, if necessary. You are, also, encouraged to connect with others in the Library Brain Booth to explore tools and activities together.

The following stations are usually available in the Library Brain Booth during drop in hours:

  • Feedback Station & Brain Food Station
    • Tell us about your experiences in the Brain Booth!
    • Grab a healthy snack (free :)!
  • Biofeedback Station
    • Heart Rate Variability (HRV) biofeedback machines are designed to be used over time. You can work to train your body's stress response, as well as work to increase your heart rate variability from your lowest to highest heart rate.  
  • Relaxation and Contemplation Stations
    • Noise proof headphones
    • Sound machines
    • Chrome-books for viewing guided meditations and more. Headphones included.
    • CD player for listening to guided hypnosis and meditations. Headphones included.
    • Adult coloring pages
    • Origami
    • Rotating contemplation activities such as Gratitude Log
    • Curated collection of books and DVDs that you can borrow
  • Gaming Station
    • Nintendo Wii
    • Labyrinth maze
    • Board games
  • Virtual Reality Station (Bring Your Own Phone)
    • Samsung VR goggles for Samsung phone models
    • Firefly VR goggles for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
    • Tepoinn goggles for most all other phone types
  • Light Therapy Station and Recommended Reading Station
    • Light therapy lamps (aka Seasonal Affective Disorder lamps)
    • Dozens of books and DVD's have been added to the Library collection. All are circulating - take one home with you!
