EBSCO Alerts (HSU users only) - establish subject search profiles in the CINAHL; GreenFile; Fish, Fisheries and Aquatic Biodiversity Worldwide; and Wildlife and Ecology Studies Worldwide databases to to receive daily, weekly or monthly notification of new references added to the database that match your profile

Proquest Database Alerts (HSU users only) - set up subject profiles to receive weekly notification of new research indexed in the Agricola, BioOne Abstracts and Indexes , Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management or Oceanic Abstracts databases.

National Center for Biotechnology Information Alerts - set up subject keyword searches of NCBI databases produced by the National Library of Medicine, including PubMed and GeneBank. There are a number of other options for alerts of NCBI databases including AMEDEO: The Medical Literature Guide,Medbench Updates, and PubCrawler.

Hot Papers and Topics

Hot Articles
(ExLibris) Lists the ten most frequently recommended articles by discipline in the BX recommender database.

Top Publications... (Microsoft) Lists the most highly cited publications in the Microsoft Academic Search database by discipline and subdiscipline in the last 5 years, 10 years or all dates.

Top 25 Hottest Articles (Elsevier) Lists the 25 most cited articles in 24 disciplines and in 2,500 journals based on ScienceDirect usage statistics. Updated quarterly.

There are other subscription services, e.g., Faculty of 1000 and Scopus that also list hot papers but which are not available at the HSU Library.

JSTOR
(HSU users only) - For each journal in the database lists the top 25 articles "Most Cited" by other journals in JSTOR, and the top 25 articles "Most Accessed" in the last three years.
Mendeley
This social networking and reference manager site lists the 20 top linked papers by discipline and subdiscipline from among more than 35 million papers in the database.
ScienceDirect
(Elsevier) (HSU users only) For each journal in the database lists the top 25 "Most Cited Articles " since 2007 in the Scopus database, and the top 25 "Most Downloaded" articles in the last 90 days.
ScienceWatch
(Thomson Reuters) Weekly review of leading scientists, journals, institutions, countries, hot papers and hot topics in the sciences. Update frequency varies depending on the area. Data is derived from Web of Science and Essential Science Indicators.
